. Transport Delivery Methods and Security Implementation for D-Cinema-to-Home

. Abstract — D-Cinema-To-Home will provide an attractive alternative to other existing options such as HD-DVD, Blu-ray DVD, video-on-demand – bring the sizable selection of the Hollywood vaults directly into customers’ living rooms. DCinema-To-Home will ride on the commonly available broadband network to deliver exceptionally high quality video comparable to D-Cinema. High bandwidth requirement is always the critical hindering factor when attempting to bring D-Cinema to home theatre systems through IP networks. However, these problems can be overcome with innovative efficient store-and-forward techniques and with advanced video coding technology. This paper presents the transport delivery methods and security issues associated with the transportation of D-Cinema contents. It also proposes a solution for an optimized secured transport system. The work was supported by GDC Technology, Singapore, a subsidiary of public-listed Global Digital Creations (GDC) Holdings Limited (www.gdcworld.com).

. A Study of MPEG-7 Image Retrieval using 3 Optimized Descriptors

. Abstract — The purpose of this paper is a review report, analyzing three academic/experimental papers presented in various conference proceedings on MPEG-7 image retrieval. Each paper explains about the optimized use of descriptors. The 3 descriptors reviewed are: the edge histogram, color descriptors and shape descriptor. The first paper explores the optimal use of local edge Histogram Descriptor by generating global and semiglobal edge histograms. This yields better retrieval performance. The second paper reviewed is based on empirical evaluation of color descriptors. The experiments were performed in a challenging platform and evaluation of the different color descriptors were purely based on experimental data. The 3rd paper reviewed is based on an optimized technique for shape representation techniques in shape-based retrieval. The method proposed is a generic Fourier descriptor which could overcome the drawbacks of existing shape representation techniques.

. Compression of Motion Capture Databases

. This report summarizes a lossy compression algorithm/method used for large databases of motion capture data. This method of compression of motion capture databases has been presented at the ACM SIGGRAPH annual conference series 2006. Reference Paper: ARIKAN, O. 2006. Compression of Motion Capture Databases. . 3D Visualization & Animation of Crowd Simulation Using a Game Engine
.

. This paper, published and presented at Computer Games Multimedia & Allied Technology 09 (CGAT'09) Singapore, present an approach for generating 3D visualizations and animations from simulation results in the area of agent-based crowd simulation for military operations. The main contribution is to create a simulation bridge between a federated agent-based crowd simulation architecture and a game engine to drive the visualization and animation of virtual crowd in a 3-dimentional space.

. Book Publication: Creative Commons
.

. Creative Commons is an extension to digital contents licensing. It has brought a different dimension to the way content producers share their data among other entities. It provides free, easy-to-use legal tools that give everyone from individual user generated content creators to major companies and institutions a simple, standardized way to pre-clear usage rights to creative work they own the copyright to. This has had serious business and social impacts. In this work, the concept of Creative Commons licensing is introduced, followed by a description of the different types of licenses. Impacts in the business and social arena are also outlined.
